Carnival of the Recipes - May 19th Edition

May 19, 2008

Having been sick for most of last week I was looking forward to finding some new comfort food recipes as part of my round up of recipes for Carnival of the Recipes. This recipe from thecookmobile.com for Hawaiian Spare Ribs stood out immediately. If you’ve checked out my personal blog here on Thrive! you realize I love BBQ food — this will definitely be a recipe I try sometime.

Next up is recipe for Chicken Spaghetti, you can never go wrong with pasta when you need a pick-me-up.

Talking of pasta, Jennie W from Jennie’s Rambles presents Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta.

As I am an import from England, Shepherd’s Pie is no stranger to me. Here is a wonderful adaption of that recipe by Karen McLaughlin, Tex-Mex Shepherd’s Pie, that she posted at The Speeding Kitchen.

From one ground beef recipe to another, East Valley Living has a great recipe for Savory Stuffed Meatloaf.

Finally to round out all these comfort food recipes Jason Isbell presents On the spot dinner posted at Tired Garden.

So after we eat all that comfort food we will probably have gained a few pounds, so what better way to finish of this Carnival than with some healthier recipes? Our motto here at Thrive! is Living a healthy life to it’s fullest, after all.

Let’s start off with a great recipe for Honey Maple Granola posted by Katy at sugarlaws. Great site, Katy!

You know there is always room for one more pasta recipe, this time though it’s paired with a good helping of roasted vegetables for a healthier, vegetarian pasta dish. Melanie Rimmer from Bean-Sprouts presents Roasted Vegetables and Goats’ Cheese Pasta.

All that heavy pasta has put me in the mood for some lighter dishes. Gilad’s Kale and Avocado Salad posted at Blog d’Elisson should fit the bill.

Last, but not least, we have Grilled Asparagus with Parsley Lemon Pesto which you can find at A Weight Lifted.

Next week’s Carnival of the Recipes will be hosted by Jennie W at hhttp://rayjenweber.blogspot.com. The sun’s out, so send in your favorite picnic recipes to recipe.carnival@gmail.com by noon CST on Saturday.
